Skinning Guide
Ahh, so at last you have decided to become a skinner. Truth be told this is the first profession I ever picked up in World of Warcraft. Every single time I level a new alt I level skinning with it. Then at 450 I can always decide to go a different route if I choose.
Now, the reason I do this is because skinning is a gold mine if played right. It ranks right up there with mining and herbalism but sadly it also has the same drawback. If you want to make gold with skinning you have to spend time farming mobs to skin. A nasty prospect to say the least. It is for this reason I don’t have a single level 80 skinner.
Skinning does however have a nice little critical strike bonus once you max it out so that’s a nice perk to keep in mind.
Remember, if you’d like to learn more about making lots of gold in Wow its never a bad idea to grab a gold making guide.
One last thing, skinning is unlike any other profession in the fact that there are very specific routes to take depending on your race/faction. For this guide I am going to show you one route for alliance and one route for horde.
Alliance Skinning Guide 1-50
Start out by killing the boars just south of Goldshire. You should be able to level up to 20-25 in this area. Once you hit 25 go ahead and start to head east toward the Eastvale Logging Camp. You can start killing the forest wildlife in this area (mainly bears/prowlers) until you hit 50.
Alliance Skinning Guide 50-115
Ok, so now that you hit level 50 skinning go ahead and make your way back to Stormwind. You need to train in Journeyman Skinning while you are here. Once you have done that take the flight path to Thelsamar, Loch Modan. Here you are going to work your way east around the lake and then northward killing bears and crocolisks along the way. When you reach the eastern shores you will also come across some boars to help top you off at level 115 skinning.
Alliance Skinning Guide 115-150
When you reach level 115 skinning it is time to head north to The Wetlands. This zone is great because you are pretty much going to follow the path from the southern entrance of the zone all the way to Menethil Harbor. Your targets along the way should be primarily different varieties of raptors. By the time you hit the harbor you should be level 140 but if not just double back to Whelgar’s Excavation site.
Alliance Skinning Guide 150-170
Yep, its that time again. Time to head back to Ironforge and train Expert Skinning. Once you have your training out of the way take the flight path to Southshore. If you are familiar with this zone you will remember a group of lions that live in the northern part near the Alterac Valley entrance. Its tough to explain so here is a screenshot:
Alliance Skinning Guide 170-205
From Southshore head east to Arathi Highlands. This zone is full of raptors. It shouldn’t take you more than a few minutes to level to 205 in this zone. After you hit 205 its time to head back to Ironforge for training. Train in Artisan Skinning.
under construction…
